My older two children watched these movies so distinguished they wore the VHS tapes out. I was skittish I wouldn’t be able to catch them for our youngest… While Bertram the Goose can find on your nerves a itsy-bitsy, after 500 showings, hey, what doesn’t? In any case, I would rather listen to these tapes any day vs. Barney or the Teletubbies. We have many fond memories of the songs and skits, and detached enlighten many of them today. These are a must-have for your miniature ones, they care for the sparkling costumes and the music. Note: these are best viewed by 2-4 year-olds. Any older and the kids are fair past it.
I ancient to possess this volume and share 2 as a child and watched both of them repeatedly. I would appreciate to have them again and relive memories from the past. This is a colossal thing for children of today to have. Kids growing up these days probably have no belief who Mother Goose is. What a shame! And why people are reviewing this video like it’s a tall hide motion describe is ridiculous. This is very veteran and for the kids. It’s Mother Goose nursery rhymes. Geesh!

I recently saw El Topo at the IFC Theater in NYC, and the restoration was pretty. This film has only been available in North America in bootleg fabricate, and these bootlegs ran from from passable to awful. My personal copy was a VHS dub of a Japanese laserdisc, which had the film optically censored (you can’t point to pubic hair in Japan, but objective about everything else), Japanese subtitles, and it was dubbed in English (it is supposed to be in Spanish) . Now we will score it as the mammoth Alejandro meant it to be seen. This film is really wonderful at times, considering Jodorowsky was mainly known as a theater director, and he had only directed one previous feature (the runt seen and frequently banned Fando y Lis) . His films have a truly hallucinatory quality that is resplendent to recognize. This was reportedly John and Yoko’s approved movie. They recommended that Allen Klein steal up the rights to it, and he did. Allen and Alejandro have been feuding for the last 30 years over this film and who owns the rights, but luckily, they’ve made peace (let’s hope it stays that intention) . El Topo, along with The Holy Mountain, are Jodorowsky’s best films. Many thanks to ABKCO films for finally releasing this masterpiece.

Just to let you know, the above is a review of El Topo. This review is also appearing for some reason under the box state of The Films of Alejandro Jodorowsky. The box space is graceful, by the blueprint…
El Topo is the classic Mexican film hailed by John Lennon and Yoko Ono enough that it was shown at midnight in many cinemas for years. It is often credited as starting the midnight movie countercultural that helped bring attention to, and do cult film audiences for movies like The Rocky Alarm Recount Indicate and David Lynch’s Eraserhead. In that respect it is far from a mainstream film but it got enough attention that it is well-known even today. I feel that this is with top-notch reason, as El Topo is one of best films ever made. Alejandro Jodorowsky directs and stars as the title character.

El Topo begins with its eponymous character in the desert with his son. He tells the boy to bury a describe of his mother and his toy in the sand as now it is time for him to become a man. The boy is vulnerable but El Topo leads him by example while protecting him in their various interactions with others. The film understands the western genre and the machismo that often accompanies it. El Topo is one unpleasant cowboy who can guarantee protection for anyone he cares about. So it really sucks when he soon leaves his son unhurried with a bunch of monks after emasculating some nefarious banditos. He leaves with a girl he saved and he names her Mara. Mara loves El Topo for being the alpha male that he is, so she convinces him to destroy the four best gunslingers so he can be baddest cowboy of them all. He manages to defeat them in various notable ways. These scenes are rich in biblical and other religious references and operate allegorically to point to that being a abominable cowboy isn’t really all it’s cracked up to be. Nevertheless, for better or worse, El Topo kills all four of them and begins to learn four specific lessons along the design. He begins to feel guilty and while he is caught off guard during the beginning stages of his enlightenment, he is defeated by the unknown woman who followed El Topo and Mara during their hasten. Viewing El Topo as vulnerable, Mara betrays him and leaves with this unknown woman gunslinger. El Topo’s battered and shot up body is taken away to a cave by a multitude of unseemly characters.
Macrocosmically, the dash for El Topo overall suggests that his travels narrate the rise and trials of Judeo-Christian theologies, with the son representing unusual Judeo-Christianity and El Topo representing the old-fashioned philosphies. The second half of the film seems to comment on more contemporary dealings and even anticipates what will happen in the future. How will El Topo’s son grow? How will he react to the father who abandoned him but who has himself grown? How will the dominant faith evolve? How will it beget its truth and purity with humanity at the wheel?
In the literal sense, the second half of El Topo forwards to a few years later after he is brought to a cave by this band of deformed pariahs. When he wakes up we soon realize that El Topo is a different man. He shaves off his beard and head and dresses as a monk. He makes a concept to free these people from their cave so they can join the community outside. He plans to fund the building of a tunnel to free these people. He does this by going to the town with his dwarven girlfriend to entertain them with comedy and dancing, among other exiguous jobs. The town itself is by no means a utopia as it is wrought with slavery and violence. A recent priest at the church in town is revealed to be El Topo’s gain son who he abandoned years earlier. El Topo’s son plans to slay him but he decides not to do so until the tunnel is complete. The tunnel gets finished and El Topo’s son decides not to waste him. Meanwhile, the deformed people are free and as they head to the town the villagers there originate to shoot and waste all of them, to El Topo’s terror. El Topo unleashes his vengeance on the villagers, killing them all and in the process freeing their slaves. El Topo then lights himself on fire, which was a timely parallel to the Buddhist monks who did the same in relate of the Vietnam War. During his death, El Topo’s unusual son is born to his dwarven girlfriend. If the Buddhist references are consistent then this would suggest that El Topo is reincarnated as his maintain son and religious truth will continue to surface again.
I reflect it is vital to sign that the issue in El Topo could be perceived as both perplexing and offensive to many movie-goers. Alejandro Jodorowsky kills sincere animals, uses valid deformed and dwarfed people, and liberally applies nudity and violence throughout. It doesn’t offend me at all but I knew my wife wouldn’t like it and I understand why, so I mention it here unbiased in case.
El Topo is a complex sage with many peculiar details as well as many religious references and metaphors that comment on a larger scale as I famed earlier. I’ve seen it many times and in my first few viewings I didn’t understand it and opinion it was sharp but pretentious. It is not pretentious. Microcosmically, El Topo is a film about a human being finding himself, and finding out all alone what it means to be alive. It is about independently becoming a gracious man as a friendly man is defined in the eyes of Alejandro Jodorowsky. It is obviously a deeply personal film for its director and it may not touch on elements personal to everyone in its audience, but it definitely did for me. Jodorowsky invokes religious references as a vehicle to shriek his contain torments and challenges and how the enlightment experience for El Topo is merely mirroring his occupy experiences. It’s commentary addresses oceans of issues in many layers. Conjuring up the imagination to acquire this web of ideas so alive is indeed an ambitious undertaking. I earn El Topo to be profoundly involving in a plot that few films are. Its significance alone should at least clarify one viewing for you and I hope you score the same satisfaction that I did. Perhaps you will like it enough to indulge in El Topo again and again.

It seems like a ‘new, improved’ edition of “Gone With the Wind” has appeared every couple of years, offering the ‘ultimate’ in characterize and sound reproduction, and extras. It can become expensive keeping up, and frustrating (remarkable like buying a classic Disney DVD, when you know a more complete “Special Edition” will soon render your “First Time on Video” copy aged), but the unique GWTW Four-Disc Collector’s Edition most assuredly deserves a set in your collection.

First off, the report and sound quality is unbelievable. Warner’s Ultra-Resolution process, which ‘locks’ the three Technicolor strips into dependable alignment, provides a clarity and ‘crispness’ to the images that even the 1939 recent print couldn’t accomplish. You’ll honestly contain your TV is picking up HD, whether you’re HD-ready, or not! This carries over to the Dolby Digital-remastered sound, as well. All of the tell-tale instruct and scratchiness of the opening credit title music, quiet discernable in the last upgrade, is gone, replaced by a richness of tone that will give your home theater a capable workout. (Listen to the brass in this sequence, and you’ll peer what I’m talking about…)
The biggest selling point of this edition is, of course, the two discs of additional features offered, and these are, in general, apt. Beginning with the honorable “Making of a Tale” (narrated by Christopher Plummer), Disc Three offers exciting overviews about the film, the fantastic restoration, footage from the 1939 Premiere (and the bittersweet 1961 Civil War Centennial reunion of Selznick, Leigh, and de Havilland), glimpses of Gable and Leigh with dubbed voices for the foreign-language versions, the international Prologue (tacked on to define the Civil War to foreign audiences), and a 1940 MGM documentary on the “Extinct South” (directed by Fred Zinneman) memorable today for it’s simplistic belief of the time, and stereotypical portrayal of blacks.

Disc Four is a mixed bag; the long-awaited reminiscences of Olivia de Havilland are more chatty than informative (with the 90-year-old actress more involved in discussing her wardrobe than on-set tension…although a prank she pulled on Gable is droll), and the Clark Gable Profile is superficial (A&E’s biography of ‘The King’ is far valid) . Things improve, however, with the insightful, sympathetic TCM biography of Vivien Leigh (hosted by Jessica Lange), and a Astounding allotment devoted to brief bios of many of the GWTW supporting cast, narrated, again, by Christopher Plummer (although I wish the filmmakers would have included bios for Ward Bond, Victor Jory, Fred Crane, and George ‘Superman’ Reeves) .
All in all, the GWTW Four-Disc Collector’s Edition isn’t perfect, but offers so distinguished terrific material that it is CERTAINLY the one to bear!
I passe to deem that this Hollywood classic was for everyone. However, after reading nearly 300 reviews of the film, I consider that isn’t apt anymore. This movie is NOT for you IF 1) you reflect a movie must be as historically lawful as a history book, 2) you mediate a 1939 movie should judge the values of the 21st century, 3) your attention span is so short that you must only eye movies from 90-120 minutes in length, 4) you can only gather politically factual films, particularly in terms of racial issues, 5) you are so Monotonous as to mediate widescreen movies were made before the 1950s (although to be heavenly, Selznik originally intended to exhaust a special widescreen process for the so-called “burning of Atlanta” sequence but gave up on the expensive belief), 6) you can only glean computerized special effects as they appear in recent films, or 7) your opinion of broad acting is to be found in slasher or teen films being made these days.

GWTW is NOT a documentary on the Civil War period. It is NOT a history of slavery in America. It is NOT a fable of perfect people behaving perfectly at all times.
It IS an adaptation of a unusual written by a Southern woman who, as a child, sat and listened to the stories the frail Confederate veterans told about the primitive days before, during, and after THE war. It IS a cherish narrative, probably about the novelist’s grandmother, which reflects the attitudes left over from that long-ago time.
To criticize this film for so many unrelated issues is droll. It stands on its merits as a masterful film that tells of bittersweet adore and lost fantasy. That it succeeds so well is a tribute to the actors and filmmakers of over sixty years ago.

I Admire this DVD! I’ve looked at books, online instruction, and even had a family member try to deny me. None of those methods worked for me. The plot Nici goes about teaching is like having a friend advance over to give instructions. She is very obvious and goes slowly. The DVD pauses in places so you can go ahead and then press play when you are ready. She teaches two methods, English and Continental. We chose Continental. I found out why my family member could not content me…….she does English, and I’m all thumbs that design. So having both shown gives you the ability to seize which works best for you. The only thing for a beginner that I found difficult was casting on. The DVD shows 3 ways of run knotting to begin, but does not present where the tail should go….front or assist? My mom came over to explain us – after casting on the tail goes in the front. This is where you will be using the story from the cast on your first 10 loops…..when you turn the needle around as you switch hands, your tail will be in the benefit where it needs to be. I know that sounds simple, but for a beginner it was a conundrum!! If the tail is in the front, you race out of tale! Other than that dinky detail….every detail for knitting and purling is covered well!! There are finish up angles and it is demonstrate “over the shoulder” so you are not watching her knit and then try to reverse it. If you want to learn to knit……acquire this DVD…within a short while you’ll be knitting away!
Nici covers the following:

I have been knitting for a microscopic over six months and I know the basics (knit, purl, casting on, etc) but this DVD has unruffled been an ample aid to me. I now know how to apply emergency first serve to a swatch, how to block, increasing and other cramped things that you need on your drag to becoming a knitter. Also as a bonus, some of the knitting terms, SSK and K2tog are explained.
You can’t go horrible with this DVD. She shows you English and Continental styles and the best part–she encourages you and tells you it’s okay to possess your needle a distinct scheme or knit loosely.
Oh, yes, I have never worked for Nici McNally and have no ties to any knitting company so I am completely fair

Fargo Review At Amazon..
Product: Fargo Amazon Price: Sale Price Too Low To Display Availability: In Stock |
Very few movies stand out in the world of cinema in a plan that “Fargo” does. This off-the-wall thriller that combines humor with suspense is an absolute masterpiece in my eyes. It’s one of those films that I can see over and over again without ever worrying about getting tired of it. It is a movie that is crafted and presented to us in a unusual and animated manner.
The location revolves around a bizarre kidnapping way. Jerry Lundergaard is pressed for cash, so he resorts to hiring two thugs to kidnap his enjoy wife so that his father-in-law will pay the ransom. Sounds like one bizarre conception, but one must remember how desperate people can catch when it comes to money issues. It’s easy to perceive that anguish lies ahead once the thought is residence into motion, and a series of events have been unleashed that cannot be undone. What’s supposed to be a simple and straight-forward belief ends up being a horrific mess with unspeakable consequences.
“Fargo” is truly one of those films where you know the majority of the population has seen it. Everybody repeats the lines, reenacts the humorous and sometimes over-the-top accent (although, I have been to Minnesota many times, and people do talk like that!), and everybody seems to have their beget common scene out of the movie. The film is amazingly written and directed by the Coen Brothers, who have made movies like “Miller’s Crossing,” “Barton Fink,” “Raising Arizona,” and “The Man Who Wasn’t There.” It’s a treat to eye them withhold coming up with modern and novel films that never seem similar to their past movies. The film also includes a phenomenal cast that really makes everything work. William H. Macy is big in his performance of the husband, as he shows tremendous human qualities along with the devious and dreadful ones. Francis McDormand is absolutely astounding in her role of “Marge” and steals every single scene that she is in. Let’s not forget to mention Steve Buschemi (the “funny-looking” guy) and smooth but extremely violent Peter Stormare as the two spineless thugs.

In this “Special Edition” package, we finally accept to witness the film recieve the care and treatment that it deserves. The portray and sound quality is more than satisfying–especially the sound, as this is the first time that it’s available in five-channel Dolby Surround. The DVD contains widescreen and fullscreen presentations of the film (I always recommend watching the film in widescreen, as you are seeing exactly what the director wants you to explore) . Special features include a behind-the-scenes documentary, a Charlie Rose interview with the Coen Brothers and Francis McDormand, audio commentary by the director of photography, trailers and more. The behind-the-scenes feature and the interview with Charlie Rose are really worth checking out, as the squawk of this movie being “based on a upright” narrative is finally keep to rest. And the respond is–well, I’m not going to grunt you that! That defeats the whole purpose of getting this fully-loaded DVD package. Trust me, no matter what the retort may be, it doesn’t buy anything away from the movie and everything is explained in a very reasonable arrangement. This is definitely an impressive package for one heck of an impressive movie.
“Fargo” is a film that will always be around. It has already reached “classic” set in so slight time and is critically acclaimed by some of the world’s top movie critics. While the movie may be violent and extremely shadowy, develop obvious to pay end attention to the waste where Marge is talking to “someone” in her squad car, as that really is what the whole theme of the movie is about (and it is a enormous scene, I might add) . If you have not given this movie a viewing, be positive to check it out when you can. Is it a wonderful film that can be watched numerous times? You betcha!! -Michael Crane
Of all the Cohen Brother’s tremendously spirited movies, this is the best. This is the one that they will be remembered for. William H. Macy plays Jerry Lundegaard, a man in a region. He’s a faded car salesman that has been securing loans for cars that are not really in his lot. The bank is calling in the loans, threatening accurate action, and he needs money rapid. He forms a conception to have his have wife kidnapped, thereby splitting the ransom money between himself and the kidnappers.
It’s a bad opinion, and it fleet unravels into a bloody mess of slay and betrayal. When bodies commence to mount, a local police officer, Marge Gunderson, is called in. Frances McDormand plays Marge Gunderson, and she makes the movie magical.
Buy,Download, Or Stream Fargo! Click Here
McDormand won an Oscar for the role, and this is one instance when the recipient deserved the award. She plays “Margie” with a enormous dose of humanity. She is a character that sneaks up on you. When she is introduced, you wonder if perhaps she is fair a dinky town officer in blueprint over her head. She is pregnant, speaks in slight town (Minnesota) idioms, and throws up from morning sickness when investigating the first brutal murders. She seems more like a nice, Minnesotan housewife than a cop. But early you acquire the feeling that there is something special about her.
The killings involve a traffic cop that was killed while issuing a note for a missing plate. In his log book, he was written DLR. When Marge’s fellow officer says that he has rush a search for all tags starting with DLR, Marge says gently, “I’m not positive I agree with you 100 percent on your police work there, Irv.” She explains to Irv that DLR means that it was a current car, a dealer’s car. “Oooh” says Irv, staring into status. Then Marge tells Irv a joke about the guy that couldn’t afford a vanity license plate, so he changed his name to FGS1135. “That’s a friendly one,” says Irv, but it is distinct Marge’s wit has gone over his head.
The brilliance of the scene is that Marge is never cruel or condescending to Irv, never thinks less of him, and is not making fun of him. She is simply enjoying her possess intelligence, and we can notice the very private sparkle in her eyes.
Marge also has a core of steel. Stare the scene where she gets information from a menacing suspect by reminding him, with almost motherly difficulty, about all the effort he has been in with the law, and the fact that he is actually in violation of his parole. She cracks him like an egg without ever loosing her smile.
All actors concerned give huge performances. Steve Buscemi brings his pitch-perfect tainted larceny to the table, playing one of the kidnappers; and Peter Stormare (who once played Hamlet in an Igmar Bergman production) utters perhaps 15 words in a gross performance as the other kidnapper. And, of cource, William H. Macey couldn’t have played it Better. His Jerry Lundegaard is so rotund of stress and anxiety, you can’t seek him without squirming.
I have read where this film has been criticized for making fun of the people of Minnesota, poking fun at their accents and manners. This is not right. The Coen Brothers grew up in Minneapolis, and this is their homage to their possess people. The folks in Minnesota may talk laughable to the reviewers watching movies in Modern York and Los Angeles, but this film in no scheme makes fun of them. At the kill of the day, Marge and her husband are happily going to sleep in their bed, in esteem with one another and explain with their shared life. How many other couples portrayed in a Coen Brother’s film can compose this claim?
How anyone can ogle Marge Gunderson in action and judge the Coen’s were making fun of her is beyond me. Like Marge, they are simply enjoying their possess intelligence.

LOST IN Place began as a serious attempt at an bright science fiction TV program. It was starting to degenerate into something quite different by the raze of the first season and in the second season, the change was chubby blown. No longer was it a serious display. Indeed it was quite amusing. “Campy” is the most favorite description.
Buy,Download, Or Stream Lost in Space – Season 2, Vol. 2! Click Here
The change in format resulted in changed characters. Dr. Smith started out as a despicable but vivid villain but is nothing like that in the second season. In fact, he has become the star of the point to. He is venal, selfish and not very brilliant but he is lots of fun to laugh at. Will is the other star of the point to. He was always depicted as exceedingly gleaming but he seems to have a soft state for Smith and the Robot, the third of the first tier stars. The rest of the group are exiguous more than background characters. Penny has a few prominent roles but Judy might as well not be there. Sometimes she utters less that a dozen words in the course of an episode.
All of these stories are exceedingly humorous and the “science” aspect is truly humorous. Pseudo scientific terms abound and are quite meaningless. All science fiction requires the suspension of disbelief but this series requires something more. It requires disbelief to be locked away safely where it has not the slightest possibility of intruding. In spite of this, the series works. It works because it does not purchase itself seriously. It is all done in fun and no one, even a child, could consume any of it seriously. This is legal in terms of chronicle, special effects and, especially, aliens. Mostly, it is a vehicle to let Smith be a hurt in the backside.

This location includes the following episodes:
The Questing Beast – a spacefaring knight in armor, complete with medieval camp, shows up looking for the questing beast. He takes Smith as a hostage and Will as his page. The basset hound wearing spectacles is a nice touch. The beast looks like a scandalous between a giant Muppet and Barney the dinosaur. She takes in Penny and gives lessons in elocution, manners and snobbish British etiquette. Will learns to be a cynic for a while and then everyone learns about chivalry, even Smith.
The Toymaker – another intergalactic mail order catalog is found by Will and Smith. Dr. Smith pushes the contemptible buttons and becomes allotment of the catalog. Naturally, Will has to do the same thing. Meanwhile, a “fissure” threatens to crack the planet to pieces. It turns out that Will and Smith have been transported to the realm of a cosmic toymaker who thinks they are toys. When clerks from the store try to sort things out, chaos ensues. It’s a normal episode.
Mutiny In Place – Dr. Smith tries an experiment in rain making. In doing so, he destroys the weather plot. He is ostracized as a result. As he wanders off in a huff, he finds a damaged spaceship captained by an admiral who acts like a vestige of the Nelsonian navy and dresses like a refugee from Wellington’s army, complete with tricorne. Will and Smith net pressed into the service of the admiral who was the victim of a mutiny which saw him cast away in the first residence. His treatment of his pressed hands threatens to incite another mutiny. Square rigged plot ships? This is magnificent screwy even for Lost in Location.
The Position Viking – Dr. Smith is gifted with the gloves and war hammer of the Norse god, Thor. For Smith, these seem like the keys to satisfying his desires of avarice. This is especially upright when a Valkyrie shows up to hail him as the most remarkable of all. Unfortunately for Smith, and all around him, with power comes responsibilities such as battling frost giants and the like. He also comes between Thor and his wife, Brunhilde and a fight to the death is in order. Smith gets out of this by psychoanalyzing Thor into a babbling idiot. At least that section is realistic.
Rocket to Earth – An itinerant magician happens upon the location family Robinson. The plight is that Dr. Smith is the only one who can glimpse or hear him. This leads everyone, including Smith, to deem he is going crazy. It helps that the magician is having fun making Smith go crazy. Eventually, Will and the robot figure out that the alien is right but not a very gracious magician. He does, however, have a region ship reputedly able to approach earth. That leads Smith to try and derive a job as a magician’s assistant so that he can find a scuttle to Earth. The technical term, I deem, is “sorcerer’s apprentice”. Smith is not a very salubrious magician either but it is not his magical skills that construct him an delicate employee. It is his “expendability”. He probably would have been expended had it not been that Will winds up on the same ship.
The Cave of the Wizards – Smith gets amnesia and that makes his mind receptive to being taken over by an alien force. Another blow to the head restores his memory but not before he utters a wish to have his maintain ship in the hearing of the alien machine. The result is an improper replica of the Jupiter II. Meanwhile, it looks like the Robinsons finally have the staunch Jupiter II ready for inaugurate but there is a narrow open window. That window is threatened when the aliens who are controlling Smith residence him up as their ruler. This is another one that pushes even more than usual at credibility.
Treasures of the Lost Planet – Smith stumbles into a cave that seems to maintain a pirate’s appreciate trove but is disappointed to derive there is small of value. All he finds is a disembodied mechanical head. Meanwhile, Capt. Tucker, a site pirate from a previous episode shows up and Will has to rescue him from some other status pirates. It turns out that the head is the key to a big esteem. Gaining the appreciate requires convincing the head that Smith is actually a craven, backbiting and untrustworthy pirate himself. It works.
Revolt of the Androids – Verta, an android from the celestial department store and a previous episode shows up on the Robinson’s planet. She is peaceful striving to become more human but her particular line has been discontinued. As a result, she is ordered to be disassembled. Failing to peer the justice in the area she flees and a destroyer android is sent after her. While Verta is being sheltered by the rest of the family, Smith, Will and the robot hook up with the destroyer who is having mechanical difficulties. They are unaware of Verta’s presence and try to fix him up. Smith wants to consume the destroyer to procure access to the cave of a monster that hoards rubies. Typical Smith avarice. The opinion to place Verta involves convincing the destroyer that she is human. She does this by giving him lessons in being a human. It degenerates into a robotic admire fest.
The Colonists – With as many visitors as they have, you would reflect that the Robinsons’ marooned spaceship is located at Substantial Central Position instead of some out of the contrivance planet. In this episode, the family is trying to situation up a series of communications relays when aliens raze all of the equipment at once time. The source of the destruction is a princess from a bustle of women warriors and she does not like men. Furthermore, she has decided to claim the planet for colonists from her planet. The men from the Jupiter II are to provide the slave labor to gain things ready. The women are to become members of the novel society. Unfortunately, Penny seems to like the unusual regime. Smith, of course, tries to worm his contrivance into the sterling wishes of the women.
Trip Through the Robot – Smith manages to push the noxious button damaging the electrical system of the ship. Unfortunately, Smith had neglected to recharge the robot for a few weeks and now recharging him could further pain the ship and build everyone in misfortune. To prevent difficulty to the Robinsons, the robot wanders off to die alone. Will and Smith follow after him to try to glean a solution but are unprepared for what they collect. The robot has wandered into a “uncertain plot” and collapsed from lack of power. A weird gas causes the prone robot to grow to a tall size and that is how he is found by Will and Smith. They arrive up with an concept to go into the robot and “reverse the ions” to shrink him assist to normal size. The interior of the robot turns out to be a unsafe region. I determined don’t remember anything like this from engineering school.
The Phantom Family – While Dr. and Mrs. Robinson are off doing “something else” the family is attacked by an alien. Will happens to be out of camp at the time as well. When he gets relieve, he finds not his family but duplicates of his family. The alien wants Will to verbalize the duplicates how to be “genuine people” in exchange for getting his family encourage. Teaching the duplicates to be loyal is difficult except for the case of Dr. Smith. His duplicate is objective as inferior as the unique and causes as distinguished anxiety. The duplicates are to be frail by the alien to effect his bustle. Since he is depending on Smith, his speed is in distress.
The Mechanical Man – A accelerate of little robots that contemplate honest like THE robot kidnap Smith and ask that the robot be released from slavery. They want him to help as their leader. The robot is torn between loyalty to his hold kind and loyalty to his “Family”. As it turns out, Smith has more of the qualities that the dinky robots want than the substantial one does so a itsy-bitsy bit of transference is in order. Its kind of fun to eye Smith sucking up to the robot but this episode is at the coarse slay of the silliness spectrum.
The Astral Traveler – While trying to win out of a storm, Will and Smith duck into a cave for shelter. While there, Will finds a portal to a Scottish castle skittish by the grand ghost of a laird executed for treason. After a brief tour, the portal reappears and will makes it wait on to his family. No one believes his narrative except for Smith who will, of course, capture at any straw to bag help to earth. In an attempt to note the truth of his sage, Will heads aid to the cave and finds that the ghost has arrive through and is stuck on this side. He has also lost his set as a ghost and has a physical body again complete with gout. It is decided to send Smith through to arrange for a rescue party but things go dismal, as they usually do with Smith, and Will goes through as well. The ghost takes delight in tormenting Smith once he regains his ghostly properties.
The Galaxy Gift – Another alien shows up and this one is being chased by other aliens with heavy ordnance. He befriends Penny offers him refuge in the Jupiter II. That hacks off the other aliens to no slay. In return for her kindness, the first alien gives Penny a special amulet. It turns out to be the item that the second group wants and exertion ensues.
The final disk has the “Special Features”. It basically consists of a slideshow with audio interviews from Mom and Pop Robinson and Dr. Smith.
The second season of LOST IN Area is somewhat of a mixed bag. It features some of the worst episodes of the series (“The Questing Beast” is absolutely bad), yet it also has quite a few highlights, including the truly exquisite “Mosey Through the Robot” and John Carradine’s memorable performance in “The Galaxy Gift”. All of the second-year episodes are intelligent and radiant, though, and are helped by Billy Mumy and Jonathan Harris being at their involved best.
The latest word on the third season DVD release indicates that the final year will be released in two parts, objective as season 2. The tentative release date for Season 3 – share 1 is March 2005, with fraction 2 due out in June. As most fans probably know, the unusual network broadcasts of the third-year episodes did not feature the classic cliffhanger endings, but rather a traditonal preview of the following week’s adventure. These previews are slated to be included in the upcoming DVD sets.

This may be my current Disney movie ever. (I normally capture Pixar.)

The reviewers who did not like it clearly expected something for little kids. It is not. It is very abstract in places, especially the art, which is really quite improbable. Search For for the manufacture of the panthers, and the bats. And the landscapes. Unbelievable stuff.
And the dialogue and the delivery especially is unprejudiced hilarious. How you can secure such delivery in an spirited film is beyond me.

Warmly recommended for archaic viewers with an edgy sense of humor.
THE EMPEROR’S Unique GROOVE is the funniest movie that I have seen in years. I initially had passed on watching it in the theater because I plan it looked childish, but was convinced to give it a try now that it was out on video. Boy, was my initial impression depraved.

The anecdote revolves around a selfish prince who is turned into a llama by one of his subjects. With the relieve of a advantageous peasant he attempts to gain his throne, and in the process finds there’s more to him than he previously conception or wanted there to be. While the suitable is a marvelous one, it really plays a secondary role to the comedy, which is literally non-stop. GROOVE takes the rapid-fire humor that Disney perfected in Aladdin and combines it with cartoon-style hijinx, the wit of David Spade, and a hilarious lack of reverence for the ragged Disney titillating genre. Spade plays his role to perfection, and luckily never crosses the line into being base. Seinfeld fans are in for a treat, as Puddy plays a very special side-kick role. You really can’t purchase your eyes off the mask for a little, because you’re guaranteed to miss a gag of some sort. The humor works mainly on an adult level, even though kids will be rolling from the amusing visuals and some of the more determined jokes.
The DVD itself is a qualified one. The digital transfer was trustworthy and the sound quality is top notch. The commentary track is one of the better that I’ve heard, with sharp and humorous insight from all contributors. Piquant menus. There’s a deleted scene that was probably best left out, but is inviting to inspect anyway, plus a few other fun features.
In the ruin, this is one of the best Disney flicks to near along in years. Hardcore Disney fans will eat it up. But even if you’re not a fan of Disney’s usual engaging features you should give GROOVE a shot. Cast aside your pre-concieved notions and you honest might be in for a very profitable surprise. I was. FIVE STARS.

Advertised as a comedy when originally released, Slight Sizable MAN is noteworthy, remarkable more than that. Director Arthur Penn’s sweeping film depicting the clash of the Indian and white cultures will have you chuckling one moment, then shaking your head sadly at man’s inhumanity to man the next.
Dustin Hoffman as the ever industrious Jack Crabb takes this movie on his shoulders and carries it superbly. To say that the actor shows some “range” in this role is the epitome of an understatement: from portraying an adolescent teenager to a fragile 121-year-old-man (phenomenal makeup job), from snake-oil salesman to mule skinner, Hoffman brings Jack’s gripping life to splendorous glory. And Hoffman is funny–darn funny–with a fantastic knack for physical comedy.
In addition to Hoffman, Limited Astronomical MAN offers other toothsome treats. Richard Mulligan is absolutely toothsome as a narcissistic General George Armstrong Custer–the splendid Faye Dunaway positively contaminated as impish Mrs. Pendrake. Chief Dan George, who portrays Musty Lodge Skins, Jack’s adopted Cheyenne grandfather, delivers countless one-liners, yet lends a unexcited, heartfelt dignity to his role. In fact, this is a movie one will wish to be pleased again and again–a beautifully crafted, well-made film that is timeless in its ability to entertain.

The film opens on a decrepit, wrinkled, yet peaceful energetic ultra senior citizen. He is the film’s central figure – one who looks wait on on a 121 year life – a life lived in challenging times.
Hoffman’s Jack Crabb, is perhaps a more cynical musty west version of Forest Gump. Through random experience, this one man encounters almost every legendary figure and event of the stale west. Like the movie “Forest Gump”, there is strong subliminal commentary on the period that came nearly a century after. Yet, very distinguished unlike Gump, but proper to it’s era, Small Mountainous Man sees more of the negative side of the world. At 121, Jack is very distinguished a notable child of the 1960’s.
When first shown in the early 70’s, the film’s protracted war on the Native American culture became a metaphor for the period of genocide, then closing in Vietnam. While perhaps lost on first time viewers today, the instruct message is so strong, that one can almost hear the sounds of helicopter air cavalry under the droning sing of Custer’s horse mounted assault on an Indian village. All that is missing is the Wagner and Napalm of “Apocalypse Now”.

The eyes of Jack Crabb peep the white man as bigoted, arrogant, insincere, vindictive and amoral – as he fluctuates between white culture and that of the Native Americans, whom he labels: “the human beings”. A bit of a shuttle diplomat at times, Jack becomes almost an external missionary to both nations, while never truly accepting, or being popular, by either group.
On the first level, Puny Sizable Man is satisfying entertainment, on the next it is literature. One can peer this film merely as a droll western with employment opportunities for half the character actors in Hollywood and smile frequently. – OR – One can also inspect deeper and recognize the perspective of the period in which it was written and developed. It may give one cease to judge hard about the mood of those times.

Parents looking for a radiant trail on their approved childhood stories need search no further than HBO’s multicultural piquant series “Happily Ever After: Fairy Tales for Every Child,” available in burly on DVD or on inquire from HBO Family. Designed for the 12-and-under-crowd, the award-winning series offers fresh reinterpretations of familiar classics, placing minority characters in the lead roles, and shifting the settings to mediate a diversity of world cultures. Cramped Red Riding Hood gets transported to used China, The Emperor’s Modern Clothes is reimagined in feudal Japan, Rapunzel gets a Cajun makeover, and Snow White becomes a Native American princess named White Snow. Narrated by Robert Guillaume and boasting such A-list roar talent such as Will Smith, Denzel Washington, Whoopi Goldberg, Rosie Perez, Chris Rock, and Samuel L. Jackson, among others, the point to adds a unique emphasis on tolerance, view and cooperation to each story’s used honest lesson.
Deftly avoiding the twin pitfalls of racial caricature and bland political correctness, the note manages–at its best–to fuse the positive flavor of each culture into its storytelling, without sacrificing the timeless qualities that have kept these tales alive for generations. Of course, as with any series, some episodes succeed better than others, so here I will offer a more detailed critique of three in particular to aid as a representative snapshot.

The first, entitled “The Princess and the Pauper,” takes Effect Twain’s account of improper identity and gives it a feminist twist. Olivia is the pampered princess of Peachburg, a prosperous kingdom with a shadowy underbelly–the crime-infested slum known as the Peach Pits, home of the virtuous Zoe. Encouraged by her loving mother, Zoe dreams of a better life outside the ghetto, but her degenerate father keeps her down, telling her, “You’re unprejudiced a broke nobody like the rest of us.” A chance encounter in the town square leads to a friendship between Zoe and Olivia, who realize that they are proper doubles. Switching clothes on a lark, the girls raze up displaced from their respective homes, and during their adventures each learns necessary lessons about equality and human dignity. Aside from the class issues explored in this episode, there is also a much range of ethnicities on reveal, although accelerate relations are not addressed explicitly. Olivia and Zoe are both shadowy (and ostensibly “American,”) but Olivia has a Persian father and an African mother, and the townspeople pictured are white, sad, Hispanic, Asian, and Arabic, all shown living harmoniously. The episode also delicately addresses the death of Olivia’s father, so parents of younger viewers should be prepared to discuss the subject further after the credits roll.
The second episode, called “The Steadfast Tin Soldier,” tells the fable of a young wheelchair-bound girl named Imani, who lives with her grandmother, and prefers the company of her fill imagination to that of other kids her age. One day, her grandmother gives her a box of toy soldiers made by her grandfather. One soldier in particular is missing a leg where her grandfather ran out of material–”That’s fair the map that one was made,” the grandmother says. Imani dubs the toy Goldie, and gives it a location of honor among her other playthings. Once everyone is asleep, the toys near to life and interact with one another, and Goldie finds herself ostracized by the group, except for a glowing African doll atop Imani’s bookcase. Sure to get his affections, Goldie begins her long climb upward, facing a series of obstacles along the intention, including the scheming of a psychotic Jack-in-the-box, and the musical taunts of a mean-spirited trio of Barbie dolls, who command her, “You don’t stand a chance.” Goldie perseveres, however, with the mantra, “Determination is all I need,” and eventually reaches her destination to become the hero of the toyroom. Imani wakes up to collect Goldie locked in a dance with the African doll, decides to conclude feeling sorry for herself, and is empowered to leave the house to form recent friends.
The third episode is a resetting of the sage of Robin Hood against a Mexican background. Entitled “Robinita Hood,” the episode incorporates a superior deal of Spanish into the record of the valorous heroine who “steals from los ricos and gives to los pobres.” Together with her band of Merry Chicas, Robinita Hood terrorizes the irascible sheriff and fights for the underprivileged, fostering ideas of charity as well as female empowerment. Parents may not like the employ of violence as a solution to conflict that is prevalent in this episode, and although no gets harm, plenty of money is stolen by the protagonist, albeit for a superb cause. A discussion about injustice and what can be done about it would probably be useful after viewing this one with younger children.
All in all, this series does an admirable job of presenting an alternative to the typical Eurocentric heroes of the cartoon landscape. Bewitching and educational, with obvious lawful lessons imparted in each episode, “Happily Ever After” is a fun and effective scheme to start children’s eyes to the diversity of new life, and to open them thinking early about respecting and appreciating other cultures. Unfortunately, HBO stopped producing recent episodes of the series in the early 2000s, but families can peaceful salvage the explain in various formats. I would give the series a solid A-minus, and recommend that parents or teachers view this with their children and wait on a dialogue about the issues explored.

Viewing this film is like lifting a rock to seek what has been existing under its shadowy weight, and from the stylish Saul Bass titles and jazzy Elmer Bernstein derive, it is a riveting film, with a smart, intense Sinatra performance.
As an ex-con trying to beat a heroin addiction, “Frankie” (Sinatra) slips serve into his frail habits and friends upon release from prison, and is chained to a guilt-based relationship with Eleanor Parker, who is salubrious as “Zosch”, a woman who manipulates from her wheelchair, blaming “Frankie” for her fate, and resenting his friendship with “Molly”, beautifully played by the dazzling Kim Novak, who exudes vulnerability and a soft, sweet soul.

Well written from the Nelson Algren original, and visually intriguing with suited b&w cinematography by Sam Leavitt, the details of the costuming are also worth noting…I savor Molly’s dilapidated threadbare chenille bathrobe…and like considerable of the clothes in the film, looking like it was bought in a thrift shop.
I don’t acquire this 1955 film dated at all; its themes and “types” are timeless and occur in every class and level of society, and the characters can be found in the Bowery or Beverly Hills.
The film was nominated in three Oscar categories: Best Actor (losing to Ernest Borgnine in another gritty film, “Marty”), Best Art Direction/Set Decoration (“The Rose Tattoo”), and Best Catch (losing to the romantic “Worship is a Many Splendored Thing”) .

Total running time is 119 minutes, and this film has been released under many labels in many grades, including some “cheapies” that are less than perfect in clarity and audio, but show a qualified value for the heed.
Frank Sinatra received an Academy Award nomination for Best Actor for this performance, and its easy to inspect why. Playing a role that could have easily drifted into campish over-acting, Sinatra perfectly captures the desparation and hope that Frankie Machine felt as he was trying to acquire over an addiction that was obviously destroying him, physically and mentally.

Hollywood lore says that Sinatra visited a rehab clinic while preparing for this film in order to glance what a herion addict going through withdrawal really looked (and acted) like. If honest, it certainly must have given him an insight into a world that its impossible for most people to understand.
Judged against Sinatra’s other film performances, this certainly has to sinister as the best; the only other film roles that approach conclude are Maggio in “From Here to Eternity” and “The Manchurian Candidate”. Its this performance, however, and the despiration of a man who wants to rob control of his life, but can’t, that has to be at the top of the list.
In the ruin, Sinatra didn’t derive that Best Actor Oscar, losing out to Ernest Borgnine for his role in “Marty”. After watching this movie, one wonders what more Frank could’ve done. As far as I’m concerned, he should’a won it.
